چکیده

We report the assessment of Dentate Nuclei (DN) R1 (1/T1) and R2* (1/T2*) values in a patient with relapsing-remitting Multiple Sclerosis, exposed to 22 standard (0.1 mmol/kg) doses of gadobutrol, who underwent eight relaxometric MR measurements within 2 years. DN R1 did not significantly increase nor correlated with cumulative gadobutrol administration, even after a total dose of 130 ml. Likewise, DN R2* relaxometry remained unchanged. In conclusion, massive gadobutrol exposure did not induce significant DN relaxometry changes.

Macrocyclic Gadolinium-Based Contrast Agents Do Not Cause Hyperintensity in the Dentate Nucleus.

We wish to comment on the December 2015 article of Ramalho et al entitled “Gadolinium-Based Contrast Agent Accumulation and Toxicity: An Update” in the American Journal of Neuroradiology. First, the authors introduced the study of Stojanov et al, in which gadobutrol (Gadavist; Bayer Schering Pharma, Berlin, Germany) was purported to cause hyperintensity in the dentate nucleus. However, this rep...

Gadopentetate but not gadobutrol accumulates in the dentate nucleus of multiple sclerosis patients.

BACKGROUND Previous studies have postulated an association between dentate nucleus T1 hyperintensity and multiple sclerosis (MS)-related progressive neurodegeneration. Therefore, MS patients have been excluded from most studies investigating brain deposition of gadolinium-based contrast agents (GBCAs). OBJECTIVE To study the hypothesis that dentate nucleus T1 hyperintensity in MS patients is ...

Safety assessment of gadolinium-based contrast agents (GBCAs) requires consideration of long-term adverse effects in all human tissues

Determination of the clinical importance of gadolinium (Gd) deposition must include the entire body. The benefit/risk assessment of only cerebral Gd deposition is not sufficient. The conclusion from the study of Schlemm et al., ‘Dentate nucleus T1 hyperintensity is not associated with gadobutrol’, suggests the authors’ confidence in administration of the macrocyclic agent gadobutrol. The statem...

Induction of Micronuclei and Erythrocytic Nuclear Abnormalities in Peripheral Blood of Fish Cyprinus carpio on Exposure to Karanjin

Background: We have come across the plant secondary metabolites having pesticidal properties being used in the form of pesticides. In this study, we used one of newly available and plant metabolite used as pesticide in wide agricultural fields – Karanjin, obtained from seeds of plant Pongamia pinnata. Methods: The study was conducted during the month of March 2016 at the Department of Zo...

The effects of extracellular contrast agent (Gadobutrol) on the precision and reproducibility of cardiovascular magnetic resonance feature tracking

BACKGROUND Today feature tracking (FT) is considered to be a robust assessment tool in cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) for strain assessment. The FT algorithm is dependent on a high contrast between blood pool and myocardium. Extracellular contrast agents decrease blood-myocardial contrast in SSFP images and thus might affect FT results. However, in a routine CMR scan, SSFP-cine images ...
